My darling girl is now a teenager and this photo is one of the last pics taken of her the night before... I wanted to take a pic of her still 12 and I clicked before she had a chance to turnaround... When I saw this image though it took me back to laying in a hospital bed with a bag of pink & white clothes all carefully folded waiting for her to be born....as 7.33am on April the 9th she came in to the world...all 9lbs 9oz of her! Seeing this tho made me realise my baby girl is no longer a baby... she has life waiting for her and all the joys of life and maybe just a little of heartache... for having learned that you don't get to my age without a bit of it but it's the heartache that makes all the rest of life sweeter... I love her to absolute pieces and love the way that whenever she puts her hair up you can see those strands of wayward hair that refuse to be included.... Well, that moment is now over a week old and she has laughed and cried a few times since then and one of these times was this moment, she is not really a cake lover but likes a brownie now and then so we got her a birthday brownie!
and cos you can't fit 13 candles on a brownie she was happy to have one and indulged her parents by letting us sing Happy Birthday to her too.... This image is rather grainy because it was taken from a film of us singing to her and the moment just before she blew out the candle...

Visible Image Stamps

I've been collecting these fabulous designs for about 6 months now and they so lovely and cover some many occasions and the stamps are always crisp and I love getting an envelope that has some stamps in it too... The design team produce wonderful examples using the stamps too and yesterday I had the urge to craft with inks and card.... The first stamps I used are from the Immortal Love set... I love these two roses and I made a couple of masks with them and kept moving them around as I worked over the card the I stamped the verses, the first one is a really new design from Helen and Mark, who are the lovely couple behind the name of Visible Image and is called Hearts Entwined  and the second one is done using The One verse. I used distress inks for stamping the roses in Victorian Velvet and stamped the verse using an adirondack inkpad in Cranberry, to colour the ribbon I used the same distress ink too. I used Spellbinders labels 11 for the die-cut shape on the first card.  
Then on the second card I used adirondack in Eggplant to stamps the roses and the verse, I then inked over the card using Seedless Preserves distress ink and I decided to leave a large rose in the upper middle un-inked because I thought it would bring your attention to the roses so they wouldn't fade into the background and I also used the same ink to colour the ribbon on that card... I used a Perfect Medium clear inkpad and the Grunge Flourish stamp and cosmic shimmer mica powder to give it a gorgeous shimmery effect as you move the card around. and a Martha Stewart punch french scroll around the corner set for the second card.

Key Charms...............

Baby's 13th birthday...

Last week was my daughters' birthday and it feels strange to say that she is now a teenager... we agreed to get her a mobile phone with a contract as that is what she wanted.... but my lovely friend Nikky, who along with another friend runs a mobile roller disco called Lets Sk8...(they visit different sports centres around the Bristol/North Somerset area) suggested having a surprise party for my daughter as she helps out every Saturday... So as she and her friends are a bit too old for party bags these days and my daughter is not a great cake lover but likes brownies so we got her a brownie and took along a tray bake and I made bracelets for all the girls and the boys that went got a steampunk themed key charm/fob... I won't be showing any pics of the roller disco as I know some of the mums would prefer not to have pics of their children shown but I have a few pics of the bracelets that I made for the girls who attended.  I even managed to get drops of paint on either end.... anyone remember the white roses being painted red? Also I had to use a swallow for the bird cos I couldn't get a dodo charm anywhere and instead of a caterpillar I got butterflies... and the middle charm altho not Alice in Wonderland related it was birthday party related... a roller boot!! I really enjoyed making these bracelets and I used split rings instead of ordinary jump rings so they would be a bit sturdier for the teenagers....

a card or two, some wedding stationery and a couple of other things too!

Lately I've been making more cards and also some jewellery too... I can't show all the jewellery just yet but I made a necklace for a friends little girl and some key charms for two friends who've just gone into business running a cake shop.
So from top to bottom then,
The first card I made was for my youngest son, the next for my friends V & S and also the key charms were for them too, then the necklace was for V's little girl, she is such a sweetie and loves to come round to see my daughter too even tho my girl is 8 years older, she loves to spend time colouring in pics with T helping....
Below that is a thank you card for T's friend and parents who took T to London with them over the long Easter weekend... lots of great pics taken and some fab food too by the sounds of it all....
Next is a birthday card for my lovely MiL.... she will be 70 but you'd be hard pushed to think she was more than 50.... she looks more like my husbands sister than his mum! That's obviously where the good genes come from cos altho A is 6 years older than me, he's been mistaken for my toy-boy!! Anyway, the next card
is also for her from our 3 children, they love their Grandparents so much, my parents are both no longer with us and I think that my dad's recent passing has made the children realise that no-one sadly lives for ever but we hope my husbands parents are around for a lot longer yet!
The last 5 pics are the wedding invites (day & night-time), rsvp cards and wedding favour boxes (72) that each had to have 5 almonds in so we wrapped them in turquoise blue tissue to complement the rsvp cards that went with every invitation. I've known the bride-to-be since she was two years old and now she will be nearly 26 when they get married! so much has changed in those 24 years....yet its hard to believe that much time has gone by....

And here is a snap shot of the bride to be...... She's a lovely young lady and I know she is a great daughter too and I'm sure she will make be a wonderful wife and one day a mother herself too!

So, I think that is all for now, until next week when my 3 children are back at school and I can get back to crafting and finish a patchwork quilt I started a few years back!

A Mother's Love

Before I was a Mum I slept as late as I wanted & never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair & teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mum I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunisations.

Before I was a Mum I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Chewed on or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mum I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mum I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew just how much I would love being a Mum.

Before I was a Mum I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mum I had never gotten up in the middle of a night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mum. 

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mum

Just for Jules

This pic is just for Jules....poor love, the previous pic I posted she appeared to be scowling and I didn't realise til she pointed it out!! So I think it's only fair to redress the balance and post a pic of her smiling... she is such a lovely lady and I wished I had a film of her doing her Heather Small impersonation!! Am I too late?

Look what is on my laptop!!

I didn't plan to blog at all today as the last few days er week has been hectic but lots of fun!! we had a weekend away with the FBG's & 2 husbands (One was mine and t'other belonged to Krafty Karen). Anyway this is the 3rd year in a row and I love to organise.... is it because I'm A. a mummy? B. a Scorpio? or C. just plain nuts? Oh but it was so much fun and these beauties clubbed together to get me a voucher to spend and hey.. I don't hold with the time to spend thing! It doth burneth a bloody great big hole in my handbag! and they did it without me knowing... the tinkers!! But I arranged a whip-round for our beloved Alison... who will soon be departing back home to sunnier shores down under.... we gave her the money as we know she loves framelits but we weren't sure what she had so she can pick a set she wants and hopefully she'll think of us when she uses them too!!! This is nearly all of us (a husband was behind the camera and mine ia the tall one propping me up! and Alison is on the right (seated) in nearly all black with a floaty scarf and pink crocs...
 

Now I'm being rather cheeky using this pic as Tara took it (thank you very much for sending it to me Tara, but its one of those pics I shall look on and always smile cos it makes me feel that way... T, me and Alison... why this pic happened I can't recall but I vaguely remember Alison and myself serenading Tara with Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand's You don't bring me flowers... yup insane and proud to be it... anyway...

A bit of time at Meadow Barn sans children

Is what we would all like to have adult conversations and laughter and not be afraid of upsetting someone's child or even our own.... so we had a fabulous time and Thanks to the grandparents and a friend for having our daughter, who is very good friends with her daughter....


But I came back to something I was totally shocked by a message from pinterest.... they deleted this picture!!

Their statement was that they couldn't show any buttocks, breasts or genitalia!! but its Monty Python for gawds sake!!!  and where was Cleese on the pic? Hubby reliably informs me that he, Cleese that is, left for the last series apart from one sketch!! then he left to write Fawlty Towers.. Farty Towels... I can remember one more name that was changed but won't post it for fear of offending delicate minds...
Dear Jessie told me they deleted a pic on one of her boards of La Monroe with towels over her chesticles..... 

Anyway back to the weekend... we hardly used our camera but I did blog some pics on my card blog here
This one I took and from front to back it's Carin, Gemma, Fiona and Tara.... this was before the quiz that will never be forgotten... mainly cos someone answered a question with the answer SLUT!!! Mr Wonderful laughed so much he lost his place but dammit... he still won the quiz!!

This is the wonderful Alison... a day will come soon when she will depart back home to Australia, with husband and gorgeous twin boys and boy oh boy, she will be missed so much!! we've gone thru a lot together this gang and I've a feeling things will never be the same once she has gone....

This is from left to right... a bit of Carin, a lot of me, Mr P in the background stirring his chili con carne and Mr Wonderful with his arms crossed gazing at me with adoration (or maybe bewilderment... who knows!)

Krafty Karen is digging in her bag, Fiona has her beautiful long hair flowing down her back, Gemma is punching away with a pennant punch, she loved it so much she bought the company.... no, that was Remington! anyway she went home with the punch and hand up to her head is the painfully shy but stunningly beautiful Carin aka The Bo Bunny Babe!!

And this pic is one of the quick ones taken outside, mainly cos it was bloomin' freezing and somebody's name had been mentioned, this person is well known to the online community and is a complete &!%£)(^)!! and Mr P was taking the pic so yes, we will be taking our tripod next year so he can get in on the action!!

Mr Wonderful aka Big Al and Mr P aka Mr P... our chefs for the weekends evening meals... and what good meals they were too!!
